Economy in Knight Realms
I mentioned during the banquet that we would be rolling out an economy update designed to give weight back to coin currency,
Over the years, the game has gone from using small gems, copper, silver, and gold pieces to represent currency. In time, we phased out copper from inflation, we phased out uncut gems, and as of right now, we have mostly phased out silver. We are almost reaching the point where the one gold piece should reasonably be phased out and in doing so, would create a much bigger struggle with my ability to supply coin for use in the game. We have been working on solutions to this problem and have come to one we feel will resolve the issue.
We will reset the weight of the physical coin so that we can reset the ever-growing inflation. In doing so all of the surrounding wealth, currency gain, and currency spending numbers will be adjusted to match. Your buying power will remain the same and mathematically speaking, you should experience no real change in the value of your existing wealth. Gem value will be adjusted to be a bit more streamlined and hold a higher weight in the economy than they did previously.
Phase one will take place at the January event and will require everyone to turn in all physical coins and gems while card currency must be adjusted or turned in. (potions/scrolls/magic items etc need not be adjusted, however a card that says “Gold Candelabra worth 15 Gold”, needs to be adjusted) The value of that turned in currency will be added to your bank total. A note will be added to your card saying that you have turned in your physical currency. For January currency treasure will not be handed out, but non-currency treasure will.
Between phases one and two, I intend to make a large purchase of silver and gold coins for the game, to support the shift in value and the need for silver change.
In February we will move into the second phase, which will be checking cards at sign-in to see if you have turned in your currency. If you missed the January event you will be required to turn in your physical coin upon your next event. In February we will be playing the game using the updated numbers, which will result in everyone maintaining the same level of buying power and the value of a single gold piece having significance again.
