This was written before the Count posted his statement, so apologies for some repetition. Decided to not muddle the intention with revision. ---- After speaking with him, I want it clear Sir Grimjkell Eirson the Stalwart should no longer be considered a Knight of Pendarvin during this feast. He is an indentured agent in the employment of Ser Danarest for a week’s time. Remember who Grim is and understand that he will follow commands given to him to the best of his abilities, but he will always be a man of honor. Use that to your advantage this feast. Catching up to what has been provided to the town and some of the missives I have seen in the Dragon’s Claw, I felt some things needed to be cleared up. Providing this missive to the other nobles, at least Doctor Viceroy Selby and Lady Talaniel also agreed with these feelings. This ‘War Game’ is only different from our usual issues in Travance as there is a system of points to complete our objective instead of simple brute force and ingenuity. Honestly, we have been provided an easier time to defend our home as we have been allowed rules to add some safeguards around death and our souls, but everyone seems interested in making it more complicated for some reason. Assisting this knight or abstinence/neutrality from this situation is setting a dangerous precedent. You are giving the forces of Necrophitus an advantage against us that will eventually cause the subjects of our barony harm. Did we not recently have a ‘Bandit King’ rally a bunch of common folk against us because ‘we did not care about them’? That was not the first time and I fear it will not be the last. During the time of Xualla, a man and his commanders led the majority of the barony against the ‘heroes’ because of how unchecked actions affected their lives. The council will not stop you from participating in this competition the way you want, but know that consequences extend beyond this moment. Your actions will be remembered and known. If you do not want to participate in this game because you do not have a stake in the reputation of ‘Travancian heroes are able to defeat all enemies’, I understand as I have the same feeling. However, I understand I should participate to help protect the people who live here, who do not have the means to simply leave the barony and constantly have to deal with the monstrosities attracted here by the Inverted Tower or our own melting pot of problems.
They may be safe from these forces during the period of this ‘game’, but Danarest and his forces will return in the future in full force if they succeed. If you do not want to potentially harm your friends fighting for the Knight and want to ‘protect everyone’: Simply do not strike them. We all have our choice of opponents to avoid or advance on the field. The concept of this being a game is being taken too literally I think. If the reason you are assisting or do not understand the weight of this situation is because you do not know who Necrophitus Arcane, please review: To skip most of the history lesson, this is the individual who created the means to destroy the weave. He is the one who cursed the world with a grand ritual and removed the majority of the greater powers that many of us used to wield. A thorn in our side who did poorly the last time they came at us directly and certainly does not need a reason to try again if we prove his Knight is a worthy foe. Travancians, we request that you keep these things in mind as we just want people to be safe. Thank you for your time.
