I went to speak with the non-hostile spirit and this is the information I have gathered: So, two spirits (possibly primal, possibly arcane?) Indal and Galen have been intertwined with the land they reside within. Indal designed a ritual in their youth to forgo the Amber Path. This bound them to the land and the land absorbed some of their arcane power. Galen showed up a short time later, found the research and attempted the ritual himself but altered the ritual which caused him to change (possibly become corrupted?).It is believed that part of him was stripped away.
The two spirits and the land are all intertwined. If you kill one you kill all three. Galen has been asleep for a long time due to Indal's efforts and in doing so Indal has become weaker/tired while Galen has become well rested and more powerful. Indal does not remember the the specifics of the original ritual that bound them in this way so any research about the ritual will have to be done from scratch. Indal, however, does not necessarily wish to be severed from the land. To this note though, they accept what happens if they cannot maintain that connection should we find a solution that involved severing their connection. There are several options and avenues we can take with this but if you have any further questions based on the information I have gathered please feel free to reach out and I will answer as best as possible. ~Ser Nesterin First Knight of Alisandria
To answer the questions posed: -It seems like they were attempting to become gods but skip a few steps, in my interpretation at least.
-It doesn't seem that there is blight involved - Just that something about his mentality/personality has been changed because of this failed ritual.
-I believe it was to achieve godhood
- I think they became bound to the land as a biproduct of their failed ritual - The animals that came from this area of land are naturally attuned to magic because of the magic stripped from them when they performed the ritual.
-I am unsure of their relationship prior to this all. My assumption based on what was said was that Galen found the ritual notes and attempted the ritual separate from Indal. - The land is across the rift, I could point it out on a map for you next I see you.
- Galen has become a monster of an individual and seems to lash out at anyone around. Indal warned me to to attempt to speak to him else I would be marked for his hunt as well. I think that covers your questions Midori, if I missed one or if you need further elaboration please feel free to leave another reply here. Aleister, your insight would be appreciate as I know very little of the amber path and anything relating to it. ~Ser Nesterin First Knight of Alisandria
The way to open the Amber Path is not something that is ever done without concerted thought and effort. To try and bypass it would take knowledge of how to walk it in the first place, which gives me pause first to question why.
Both of them choosing to try and perform this ritual spells a very dangerous course they've chosen and I'd be wary of any requests they have of you.
Ser Nesterin, if you'd have me, I'd be interested to offer you my insight and assistance, particularly with the Amber Path and this ritual they attempted.
In Service to the Crown,

Dear Nesterin,
To "forego the Amber Path?" Wouldn't the way to do that be to just not walk it? Or do you mean they were trying to become gods without walking the Amber Path? Is Galen blighted or blighting the land, or is it a different kind of corruption? What were they trying to do with this ritual? Obviously bind themselves to the land, but I mean why? What arcane animals? Did Indal and Galen know each other or did Galen just come around later? Where is the land they're bound to? What effect is Galen being awake having on the land and people?
Love,
-Midori Suarez, Daughter of Mercy
