Travance,
Usually if I am asking for aid, it is for someone else or for the sake of Travance and Kormyre. But today I am asking for your assistance on my own behalf.
My condition is worsening. Being separated from fate as long as I have been is taking its toll. I am becoming a Figment and fading from existence. I do not know what may happen to me if a way to reconnect me to the tapestry is not discovered. For you all, I know that over time, you will forget me, no matter how close we may be. Several Travancians are currently tethering me to their fates to slow the progression of this.
I recently was drawn into a meeting with several beings who have an interest in my condition, Both Devariatus, the Dark Arani and Callixto, a Lorestri have offered me paths forward. But neither is without a catch. I will not be beholden to or kneel to any who considers themselves a 'higher power'.
I have two months before I need to give them both an answer. I implore you, if you have the time, ability, contacts; if any path seems open to you to help me find a third path, please reach out to me directly through the constructs I am leaving behind, You will have my gratitude and a gold reward for any information located, And if thats not enough, I would advise you to remember exactly how many times I have saved each of you; saved Travance; saved Kormyre. Your existence as you know it will be greatly impacted if I fade away.
With hope and thanks,
Dr. Selby Wainwright
Viceroy of Albriar
Selby, As noted by our singular friend in that meeting - mortals have the capacity to impact fate with choices. In fact, I'd say the choices of mortals are the building blocks of fate. It stands to reason that making choices and connections are the best way to shift things in your favor. Considering that while you can't impact fate, you are bound to people who *can,* if they are generating actions around you, then aren't they in essence making it so you are impacting fate? That would mean your choices are becoming a part of those building blocks. Essentially we're building connection points in fate for you to exist. Admittedly we're still going to need something to tether those points, but we also need to create the points to do it right? - Jackdaw.
