A sweeping collection of sculptor works will soon be on display at the Londwyn Historical Society, which recently received one of the most significant gifts of art in its history.
“This collection will become a capstone for the Society,” Iyena Gottwitt, the director of the Historical Society’s Museum, said. “the collected works are universally marvelous. An exhibition of this magnitude is unprecedented, and could not have been accomplished without the donations of the Society's generous patrons, especially those from Agustus Fortwright’s private collection."
The great grandson of Willard Fortwright, Agustus Fortwright's contributions include works from sculptors Jeremiah Schuemacher, Elizabeth Abbernathy, Delilah Fodinbaugh and Mary Stewart.
By the end of the year, 24 sculptures will be on display in the main gallery, featuring work from a dozen notable artists such as Evret Michaels, and Amalia Dainsworth. All specifically chosen to compliment the true star of the exhibition, Williard Fortwright's magnum opus “The Twins”.
All proceeds from the no doubt spectacular opening night Gala will be utilized to locate and restore many masterworks of Londwyn's greatest artists. Tickets will be available for sale at the end of the month.
An Update From Across The Rift
The Londwyn Historical Society will be holding their yearly gala December 5th, 1220. The Exhibition Preview of the sculptures will take place inside the museum itself, with music provided by the Crownhurst Symphony. Cocktails will be available, as well as a tented dinner outside during the evening hours.
The Gala this year is being held in honor of Augustus Fortwright, as it was the donation from his private collection that is the centerpiece of this year's display. Prominently taking its place in the center of the halls will be his great grandfather’s magnum opus, “The Twins”.
Mr. Fortwright has gone on record stating that, “Following the evening dinner, there will be a special surprise for all in attendance.” but has remained quiet on any further details. When pressed, Mr. Fortwright would only comment that his Grandmother’s work would also be on display. During her lifetime, Violet Fortwright was known as a poet and composer, as well as a much sought after amateur horologist. We are expecting a show like none other this year, and look forward to what is in store.
Tickets to enter the famous event will be available for sale on November 1st for the price of 100 gold.
