Hello everyone, many of you may not know me. My name is Kayden and I have been looking into the weapons that this Alverez has been using to both fight and contain the dragon souls. While I will not be able to join you this weeks end I hope these notes will assist you in your coming fight. I am sure others have similar notes, or different information, so if you are such a person feel free to post below.
Here are my compiled notes: Song of Agony: This is the vessel that holds the souls themselves. This is a horrid weapon, even more so than most Morgazzi weapons, due to the fact it leaves the souls alive to siphon their power rather than just destroying them.
However, due to this, the Song of Agony is more fragile than other Morgazzi weapons(About as strong as a prison wall vs nearly indestructible). However, this also means when the souls are released, they have basically been tortured and the mental state that they will be in is very unknown. I believe Elric and a few other Dragoons have been working on this issue. This vessel also allows Alverez to summon draconic constructs. In addition to that he is able to sense souls. This means he will have some degree of knowledge of what peoples powers are and will be able to locate any hidden foe regardless of how good they are at it. Luckily, since Alverez is just a normal man, he may not be able to utilize the Song of Agony to its full capacity. Slaying his constructs will likely weaken him, or at least reduce the suffering of the dragons since they are no longer being forced to create/maintain them. The Song of Agony is also empowering the sword Alverez wields(see below) so if the Song of Agony is pulled from him he will likely be unable to hold the sword(at least temporarily).
Souldrinker(also known as Doom of the Eternal): This is the sword that Alverez wields. It was made to slay or corrupt any great power it encounters and will strengthen its wielder to make this happen . A single strike can dramatically weaken foes where multiple strikes can make them incapable of fighting any more. However, it can turn on its wielder if they do not cause death or corruption. The good? news is that this weapon while dangerous to those who are powerful has far less effect on regular mortals.
Dealing with the Song of Agony: The main problem we have is that we need to draw the Song from Alverez. From what I can find, a combination of Monk talents, Healer skills and various other methods could be used to accomplish the task(if anyone has any more details regarding this please post below or pass this information around).
Something I have found is that to get the Song from him it requires a great deal of power and skill. It isn't impossible to craft a weapon to accomplish this, but we will need a few things to build it.
1: A way to combine various attacks into a single powerful strike
2: A way to target it 3: A way to protect ourselves from it
((OOG: The following words were written with very shaky hands, some barely able to be read)) The Morgazzi have created weapons to do such a thing. There is a passage that references ancient ruins that is believed to have a weapon that splits into two parts, one an army can use as a target, sending their full might into it, the other is wielded by a single warrior who will strike with the full force of that army.
Personal Note: As a Dragoon, I HIGHLY recommend finding another solution than using a Morgazzi weapon. These were wielded by the most evil creatures and we do not know what using this weapon will do.
((OOG: The writing becomes clear to read again)) As far as the protection goes, there is a recipe for an oil that may work. A primal creature that can help with cleansing known as a Glade Beast. The blood of the Glade Beast can be mixed into an oil which can coat a piece of fabric, leather, clothing, etc. that will protect from the corruption of wielding a Morgazzi weapon for a short period of time. As a note, this is a one time use oil but will hopefully last long enough to get the weapons from Alverez.
On a personal note I would like to see these weapons destroyed. But destroying Morgazzi weapons is nearly impossible. If any of you know how the town destroyed Bloodtide, that method should work for these weapons as well.
I wish you luck on your endeavor Travance.

If I might add to this. Regarding the Glade oil, and the ritual to remove the spirits from the Song of Agony. The Glade Oil should be able to be used to craft protective equipment to get the weapons from Alverez, but getting the souls out will be a different matter. The Song is unique, it is fragile by morgazzi weapon standards. Effectively it’s about as strong as a prison wall. The Holy Avenger is a weapon made to free souls, it can shatter the Song of Agony’s weapon form and free the dragons. There is no telling what state they would be in. I have been working to craft a ritual, and it may help. This ritual can make the holy avenger not only the key to their freedom, but a conductor for their pain. The ritual can form a symbiosis between the dragon spirit and any number of people who share that dragon's aspect. They may then volunteer to take on the suffering of the dragon they are connected to. This will help cleanse the dragon, but even though it is unlikely to kill the volunteers, it will leave them as scarred as if they had died, and the greater the pain they accept, the worse the scar they receive will be. The fun part will be to convince the spirits to return to the astral plane, which will be about as easy as trying to heard giant scaly cats. Signed, Elric Ashby
