"To the allies of Coast Haven in Travance,
As soon as I received word of Captain Alverez's attack on you, and your leadership I rushed to see the matter handled personally. You will forgive me for taking the lead on this as the direct superior of Captain Alverez. I see no reason to trouble the Queen with the actions of one rogue Captain of one single ship.
I’m sure you are upset, and I will take every action to ensure this matter is handled in a manner that brings justice. Perhaps it will set a good example for any countries who have in the past failed to meet such a standard. First, let me apologize for the actions of my Captain. I can assure you that he has been given no orders to undertake such action. This mission is in no way sanctioned by Her Majesty or the governing body of Coast Haven, who I am certain had no knowledge of what the Captain had planned. Both myself and the governing body of Coast Haven are issuing an official condemnation of Captain Alverez actions.
Should he return, I have personally issued orders that he be arrested at once. We respect that you must defend yourself of course, but ask that you attempt to capture the Captain, and return him to Faust. I think we can agree that a public trial is the best way to mend any lingering diplomatic wounds left by The Captain’s actions, and I think we can agree that in civilized places, (of which I would count our great nation) these things are handled internally. At least that was what you said when we last met.
As for the Captain’s crew, some may follow him out of loyalty, some for fear of their own lives. We ask that you do everything in your power to capture them, so that they can be returned to Faust to stand trial for their actions. I recognize that some may be lost to battle, and this is regrettable, but understandable. However, they are still members of her majesty's navy, and the more who are returned home, the happier we shall be. I would hate to have to report to the Queen that you struck down members of her armed forces as common pirates.
Regardless of how things transpire in your quaint little town, know that the Captain will face justice for what he has done, this matter I shall see to personally. Fortunately for me you have already set such a wonderful example of how we should legally deal with it should one of our own assault and kill a diplomat. I hope with all my heart that peace between our nations prevails, and greatly look forward to our future interactions.
Duke Massimo Alighieri"
Lorenzo Alverez would not be able to sit at his own table given his parlay conditions.
It takes a monster to kill a monster. Hopefully his will is as strong as his delusions. It would be a shame if he were to leave the table mid discussion. Narcissus Malagan
Treating with the remorseless scab
Who comes to kill your leader?
How interesting.

-An addendum note is tacked just under these letters.- Word From My Contacts In The Navy, Captain Alverez has run aground with minimal supplies and no cannons left aboard his ship. I assume based on how the original message arrived that the Navy and volunteer vessels remain at sea, or are headed back to Travance. If Alverez has made landfall and we can get his location, we can form our strategy and suss out his intended targets along the way, and try to stop him. He is somewhere off the coast of Alisandria in a cove, but we cannot allow him time to endlessly conjure any army the Song allows him to. Be ready to mobilize by Feast, all available hands not performing dragon rituals will be needed. -T-
The second letter is from Captain Lorenzo Alverez himself.

“Thank you for the offer of tea, and a parlay. I would happily accept. I will arrive in your town between what I have been told is your local Inn and the bank at 1pm on Saturday after I’ve finished my morning hunt.
Here are my terms:
Anyone sitting at the table is safe from any hostilities on either side.
Anyone not at the table is not protected and may be attacked or slain by either side without breaking the trust of those at the table
I will accept no monsters at my table
You may bring any teas or food you wish, and I shall bring mine.
I shall see you at 1 pm,
Lorenzo Alverez, Captain."
