Â
Hail Heroes of Travance,
I wish you a happy Reclamation Day and hope this finds you well. I write seeking your assistance. Not long ago, myself and my associate Rendon Moore had an artifact known as the Azinar Urn stolen from us. This urn is quite powerful and used to purify spirits corrupted by aberrant energy. We have reason to believe that it is somewhere within the Barony of Travance. It is incredibly important that this artifact is recovered as soon as possible. I am requesting your assistance in the recovery of this artifact. Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you all for your assistance thus far. Here is a collection of the information that you all have uncovered so far.
My sincerest thanks.

A real question is, and it's merely an out loud thought is:
What would the thief see done with the aberrant energy that is contained, the urn is a wonderful tool to remove, given the correct handling of the aberrance within after. Unless there is a spirit trapped inside that someone wants. Both are pretty unfortunate circumstances that leave the aberrations to run amok.
I will attempt to keep an eye out for other unusual aberrant manifestations.

Kanas Silverfang,
Based on the timing, and the fact that it is possible for someone to release the shades from the urn; my educated assumption would be to say yes, it is related.
In regards to the second half of your question, let's do a thought exercise. If there is an artifact that contains shades that was stolen within an area and it is possible to remove the shades from it; do you think there is the potential that you should expect more encounters with shades? In my opinion, yes.
I do have a word of advice in case you run into them. The amount of aberrance within the shades that are purely aberrant is related to how long they have been inside the Urn; the longer they have been within the urn, the weaker they will be as the Urn has been removing their aberrance.

Vesh Talendel
Vesh and Rendon, There has been a recent report of spectres being encountered near Stonefall. Is that possibly due to the Urn being out of your possession and should we expect more encounters?
Thanks, Kanas Silverfang
Viceroy Talaniel Starling,
I will not speak for my colleague, but there is no title or formal address for me. Vesh is fine. I do prefer to be referred to as they.
Myself and Rendon will make ourselves available this Thursday evening, from 4 bells onward to answer additional questions people may have. I believe we will be able to give adequate responses to your questions then.
However, to answer one of your questions. This piece, and a handful of others with similar abilities belong to an order of Taelithrien elves that I am part of. To put it simply, our purpose is to work towards the cleansing of aberrant healing from Arawyn. This particular artifact came into the order's possession roughly 300 years ago. The records from that time are not exactly what I would call satisfactory; so I cannot elaborate on the specifics of how it came into our hands. At this time, it has been entrusted to me. Rendon has chosen to join me in my efforts in order to further his research, as he had previously noted.
By the light of the stars,
Vesh Talendel
To Rendon Moore and Vesh Talendel,
Firstly, apologies if I offend by omission of proper address - are there titles or forms of address that are most appropriate for you?
To the main point, I should be happy to assist you in recovering the Urn; it sounds an exceedingly worthy thing to have in the right hands. Is there a time that we might respectfully ask more questions about it? Its origins, for instance, or its history? Details of its function, if you know it? (How many is "a large quantity of souls", and goodness, sixty five years?) Where you recovered it from and how? If you have publicized your effort to recover the Urn in any particular way that might have attracted notice?
Best Regards,
Viceroy Talaniel Starling

While I do agree that the magical properties of the Urn are a cause for curiosity, we cannot allow ourselves to focus only on such properties. Doing so could blind us to other options that may exist. There has to be more than one way to research such an artifact. Just as there are magical means, there must also be non-magical means to helping souls. It is my understanding that researching this urn with not only its magical properties can shed some light on other meanings of assisting souls. At least, that is the purpose of my research here.
When the Urn is safely back in Vesh's possession, our cumulative research will hopefully showcase the Anizar Urn's unique properties and also maybe lead to a non-magical way of helping souls.
Respectfully,
Rendon Moore
I understand how white sorcerers do it, but the enchantments on the urn itself have me curious. If an object could be enchanted to contain abberant energies, even a specific kind of abberant energies, I want to know how. Perhaps through proper study it can be replicated in such a way that we can more easily and safely contain abberant energies for when an Exemplar or Soul Binder aren't around. We'd still require one of them to either consume the abberant energy or take it to Myrinod, but since there are so few of each, they may not always be around, and the last thing we want is to simply allow abberant energy of any kind to run amok. Chesta
I'm not super good at those code things and all that, but I'll probably go out and do some scouting and see what I can find. Maybe check with the animals in the area and see if they've noticed anything weird or that feels off. I can only imagine something containing aberrant energy might make the wildlife feel uncomfortable or stay away.
Khala Stormbringer
Any of the white sorcerers in town should be able to explain how aberrant energies are dissipated. It sounds the Urn mimics how white sorcerers do just that.
Kleidin
Thank you for clarifying on the properties of the Urn for me. I would still like to study the urn itself to figure out how specifically it manages to contain the aberrant healing energies. I understand that the properties of it is magical, but by studying the containment magics used by the urn, I hope to expand the capabilities of safely containing aberrant energy.

Chesta,
Per my previous postings, I stated that it purifies spirits corrupted by aberrant energy; not that it purifies aberrant energy itself. Unfortunately, I know of no way to cleanse aberrant energy, only to dispose of or destroy it. Corrupted spirits, or shades, sometimes referred to as ghosts, are generated from aberrant healing energy. In the cases where the shade is pure aberrant energy, like a curse, or a corruption, it is simply a matter of destroying it. In times when the shade is a soul corrupted by aberrant healing energy it is possible to save the soul if it is not too far gone. In a best case you can help the soul reconnect with it’s life, or a part of who it was to help strengthen it enough that it can reject the corruption. Often you’ll have to damage the corruption enough that the soul can be purified. Regardless you must always purify the soul before it can be resurrected, or sent on to Galladel, and once the soul is purified, the remaining aberrant energy must be dealt with using methods such as a soul binder, and exemplar, or someone else with access to the Myrinod.
Allow me to clarify the function of the Urn. The Anizard Urn expedites the process, purifying any souls that can be saved, regardless of their circumstance and leaving them in a suspended state, safe from the dangers of the spirit realm until such time as the purified soul can be released and sent to whatever awaits them. The aberrant energy is collected, and once done, can be disposed of by the usual methods. This process can be done to a large quantity of souls, over the course of 65 years.

Vesh Talendel
So, it doesn't actually purify abberant energy, but merely contains it? That's rather disappointing and very different from what your original statement on it led to. Regardless, if the object is found I would greatly appreciate the chance to study the urn directly.

For any of those who are willing to assist us in the recovery of the Azinar Urn, I am stapling here some information related to learning more about what happened and hopefully where to find the thief. Again, we appreciate any assistance and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Travance,
Vesh and I are thankful for the help coming forward thus far. It is imperative that we locate and reclaim the Urn as soon as possible. Left in the wrong hands, who knows the extent of harm that can be done.

Lieutenant Goldmane,
We had passed into Travance from the north. We were heading from Hibernian lands to Kormyre proper, bringing the urn with us in a special sealed container to protect it. Whoever took it must have known had it, and broke into the sealed container.

Amhrán,
I'm hopeful that it is not a Travancian. But no matter who took it, the urn in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it properly would be incredibly dangerous. They could unleash the horde of shades currently contained within; not to mention the reservoir of aberrant energy building up within it currently.

Do you have any knowledge of when the item in question crossed into Travancian borders or through what port of entry it was brought? Members of the Baronial Guard are stationed at the rift gate as well as the ports, and careful note is made of all those who enter or leave the Barony. Granted they might have had magical means of ingress or been smuggled in by allies through a point less watched, but it would at least give us some things to rule out.
-Lieutenant Darius Goldmane
In all honesty it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Travancian that stole it. Simply because a lot of Travancians would love to have something like this, and of that bunch a handful would be quite willing to steal for it.
By the way, does anyone know if Wrekk has seen this posting? It seems like something he'd be interested in.
- Amhrán
Addendum: I am NOT trying to insinuate that Wrekk stole the thing. If I had someone specific in mind I would have outright said it. I just genuinely think this is something he might want to help with.

Narcissus Malagan,
It was stolen by a thief; one skilled enough to breach our defenses. In regards to finding it, since the Azinar Urn is intended to purify aberrant healing energies, it is possible that seeking out areas where there is a spike in aberrant energies could help narrow where it was taken.
