Hi rules team, I apologize if this gets a bit off into the weeds. The current version of the rules (3.0β) does not mention how shields work in combat. They are listed as having: "n/a" for damage, required for / target of some skills, can block ranged attacks (complete damage prevention?), can be wielded alongside a 1H weapon I couldn't find mention of shields in terms of: blocking melee damage interacting with / blocking spells armor modifiers limitations on attacks blocked per second attacks that hit both shield and the arm holding it Would you mind a quick clarification please?
Large Casting Phokus states: "The character cannot be interrupted while spellcasting." Does bane go through this? Example Garrote: Strike a target with a weapon attack. The target is interrupted from any action they were performing as a bane effect and is unable to speak for 1 minute.
Smoke Bomb: "This creates an area around the user that counts as cover for 1 minute." Does this stay centered on the character, essentially giving them one minute of cover, or does it stay centered on the spot it is used?
So for Cleric, if I use Smite and instantly cast the spell, does it still cost a spell slot?
The Talent slot wording no longer seems to be in line with the new crafting rules. the crafting rules no longer even mention using a talent slot, only materials and time, dependent on rank of skill, while the talent slot wording references the "pre gathering system" rules)
Talent Slot (Rank 1) 1 Build
After 5 minutes of crafting: create a rank 1 Consumable.
After 3 seconds of preparation, complete a rank 1 Procedure.
Or: instantly activate a rank 1 Defense talent.
So, which is the case now?
So I’m getting a bow made for my character and I saw the weight and length limit on bows in the rule book were set to 26lbs / 28in. However, I was wondering if I extended the draw length to 30 in (I have long ass arms) but had them make the weight around 15-20 pounds would that be ok ? **additional note I’m taking Eldritch Arrow so I’m essentially using the bow as a casting phokus so I don’t plan on using physical arrows**
There are some clarifications we wish to make regarding equipment ability use:
Once an equipment ability is used from an equipment location, no other abilities may be called from that location, regardless of swapping out for a new piece of equipment in the same location. The location ability can be refreshed as one of the rest skills and also refreshes on the period change.
There is a right weapon/shield/secondary equipment slot and a left slot. Like with armour abilities, using an ability out of that slot locks out using other abilities from that slot.
This means that using a passive ability, like a silver sword in your right hand, would mean that you cannot switch out that silver sword for a wyvern fang sword in your right hand and invoke the wyvern fang ability from your right hand.
Hibernate Rank 3 Fauna; Type: Combo As an animal takes a deep slumber to conserve energy, the druid may harness energy in the same way to preserve their spells. The coupled Latent spell may persist through the target's next rest. Is this the same?
Surgical alteration has the augment tag, does this mean an individual can only have one use of surgical alteration at a time or that they can only have one of the same alteration at a time. Example, can I have multiple alterations if they are different consumables. Say one alteration of a healing potion and one alteration of an invisibility potion.
With the Spy Paragon "Alter Ego," it states that the repeating disguise must be noted on your card. Can the player mark this down themself? Or does a marshal have to mark it down?
I noticed the removal of an Armor cap from the rules. Does this mean there is no armor cap?
Trap Kit of Racketeer. Does the Area Trap Trap Kit turn the trap it is attached to into an area of affect attack?
For the new armor rules, if you have a single piece of "armor" that covers multiple locations, how does the material distribution work? Example, if I made an armor card for Raine's Jacket, would I be able to make that single jacket out of multiple different materials or would it have to be one material per piece of armor. Follow up question, if it is only allowed to be one type of material, does that still mean I can call that material benefit once per area even though it is still only one item?
For Glyph Plate, may we please have a clarification of what defines a "standard" damage type? There are several clarifications of other types of damage in the rulebook (body, drain, bane), and specialty materials, but nothing that clearly states what plate types we can craft as Scholars.
On page 1 it shows thrown weapons only get + 1 damage for piercing prof
and on page 243 it shows thrown weapons as melee and piercing.
Which is the correct version?
Immobilized- The character’s arms and legs are bound. The character may not move from their position, and may not make melee attacks or use spell packets.
This was added as of 1/5/2022. Will Unstoppable force be updated to include this? Unstoppable Force in the current rulebook below for reference. Thanks! Unstoppable Force 10 Build; Type: Utility Able to use overwhelming force of strength to break out of mystical imprisonments. After 20 seconds, the character is cured of the IMPRISONED status and suffers 10 body damage. In non-combat scenarios, the damage is reduced by 2 points per point of either Constitution or Strength known by the character.
May we please have clarification on the verbiage of this skill please with regards to the new crafting supplement? Is it spend any 5 ranks of talent slots (aka 5 rank 1's, or 2 rank 2's and 1 rank 1) to get up to 10 of what will become Simple Components, or is it spend spend 5 rank 4 slots to get 2 per rank 4 (so 8, times the number of slots expended 5 = 40 Simple Components)? Just a little unclear on the wording, I feel like the intent of it is to be gain up to 10 Simple Components for spending up to 5 total ranks of talents, but I want to be sure. Thanks!
Smite only states that it needs to be delivered via a weapons attack. Does this mean smite can be delivered via a ranged weapons?
Trap Master states "When targeted by an Attack skill: choose a target within reach. Auto-hit a Trap Card in the character’s possession against that target." This does not specify that the target MUST be whatever attacked you. Hypothetically, could you choose yourself as the target? Example: A thief is hit with an Impale, and calls Trap Master, targeting themselves with a trap that they acquired with a Healing Word scroll in it. So they take 40 damage, then heal 20 damage.
This is a three-question post, but the questions are sort of related.
1) So for using a spell from a scroll, if I have Dyad from Priest as a non-scroll spell that I can cast normally, can I use it to combo the spell cast from the scroll? - Has been answered in rulebook update.
2) If I create a scroll from an Archivist's Tome, and I have my normal +35 damage/healing buff from draining a large casting phokus and having phokus mastery, when I cast the spell into the scroll to craft it, is it at my normal +35 damage/healing, or does it only go on the scroll as base damage and is augmented only when I use the scroll? To further clarify as an example, take Incinerate, 60 fire and blow a latent defense. If I scribe it, is it 60 or 95 on the scroll? Or is it only 95 when I cast it off the scroll as my character? 3) When casting a Heal Life, Revivify, or Regenerate from a scroll, does the ability go off after only the 5 second activation time, or does it also still require the 30 second concentration on top of that 5 second timer? Thanks!
