Hi rules team, I apologize if this gets a bit off into the weeds. The current version of the rules (3.0β) does not mention how shields work in combat. They are listed as having: "n/a" for damage, required for / target of some skills, can block ranged attacks (complete damage prevention?), can be wielded alongside a 1H weapon I couldn't find mention of shields in terms of: blocking melee damage interacting with / blocking spells armor modifiers limitations on attacks blocked per second attacks that hit both shield and the arm holding it Would you mind a quick clarification please?
Large Casting Phokus states: "The character cannot be interrupted while spellcasting." Does bane go through this? Example Garrote: Strike a target with a weapon attack. The target is interrupted from any action they were performing as a bane effect and is unable to speak for 1 minute.
The Talent slot wording no longer seems to be in line with the new crafting rules. the crafting rules no longer even mention using a talent slot, only materials and time, dependent on rank of skill, while the talent slot wording references the "pre gathering system" rules)
Talent Slot (Rank 1) 1 Build
After 5 minutes of crafting: create a rank 1 Consumable.
After 3 seconds of preparation, complete a rank 1 Procedure.
Or: instantly activate a rank 1 Defense talent.
So, which is the case now?
So I’m getting a bow made for my character and I saw the weight and length limit on bows in the rule book were set to 26lbs / 28in. However, I was wondering if I extended the draw length to 30 in (I have long ass arms) but had them make the weight around 15-20 pounds would that be ok ? **additional note I’m taking Eldritch Arrow so I’m essentially using the bow as a casting phokus so I don’t plan on using physical arrows**
There are some clarifications we wish to make regarding equipment ability use:
Once an equipment ability is used from an equipment location, no other abilities may be called from that location, regardless of swapping out for a new piece of equipment in the same location. The location ability can be refreshed as one of the rest skills and also refreshes on the period change.
There is a right weapon/shield/secondary equipment slot and a left slot. Like with armour abilities, using an ability out of that slot locks out using other abilities from that slot.
This means that using a passive ability, like a silver sword in your right hand, would mean that you cannot switch out that silver sword for a wyvern fang sword in your right hand and invoke the wyvern fang ability from your right hand.
Hibernate Rank 3 Fauna; Type: Combo As an animal takes a deep slumber to conserve energy, the druid may harness energy in the same way to preserve their spells. The coupled Latent spell may persist through the target's next rest. Is this the same?
With the Spy Paragon "Alter Ego," it states that the repeating disguise must be noted on your card. Can the player mark this down themself? Or does a marshal have to mark it down?
I noticed the removal of an Armor cap from the rules. Does this mean there is no armor cap?
Trap Kit of Racketeer. Does the Area Trap Trap Kit turn the trap it is attached to into an area of affect attack?
For the new armor rules, if you have a single piece of "armor" that covers multiple locations, how does the material distribution work? Example, if I made an armor card for Raine's Jacket, would I be able to make that single jacket out of multiple different materials or would it have to be one material per piece of armor. Follow up question, if it is only allowed to be one type of material, does that still mean I can call that material benefit once per area even though it is still only one item?
For Glyph Plate, may we please have a clarification of what defines a "standard" damage type? There are several clarifications of other types of damage in the rulebook (body, drain, bane), and specialty materials, but nothing that clearly states what plate types we can craft as Scholars.
Immobilized- The character’s arms and legs are bound. The character may not move from their position, and may not make melee attacks or use spell packets.
This was added as of 1/5/2022. Will Unstoppable force be updated to include this? Unstoppable Force in the current rulebook below for reference. Thanks! Unstoppable Force 10 Build; Type: Utility Able to use overwhelming force of strength to break out of mystical imprisonments. After 20 seconds, the character is cured of the IMPRISONED status and suffers 10 body damage. In non-combat scenarios, the damage is reduced by 2 points per point of either Constitution or Strength known by the character.
Trap Master states "When targeted by an Attack skill: choose a target within reach. Auto-hit a Trap Card in the character’s possession against that target." This does not specify that the target MUST be whatever attacked you. Hypothetically, could you choose yourself as the target? Example: A thief is hit with an Impale, and calls Trap Master, targeting themselves with a trap that they acquired with a Healing Word scroll in it. So they take 40 damage, then heal 20 damage.
Regarding 1-Handed foci: Are you able to dual wield 1-Handed Casting Foci as the weapon rules seem to suggest? If so, are they on separate cooldowns?
Regarding Eldritch Arrow and Phokus Mastery: When using a ranged weapon and only a ranged weapon in conjunction with Eldritch Arrow, would this qualify for fulfilling the requirements of Phokus Mastery?
Regarding Arquebuses: When using the skill Replicate against a ranged or auto-hit attack, it must be delivered as a weapon attack. Would an arquebus be considered a weapon attack, and if so, could it replicate a spell (given that spells can't be weapon cast with a pistol)?
Question regarding the Centurion skill Cleave: If you render a target incapacitated using an attack coupled with a Combo skill, is that Combo skill also included in the Latent Attack given by Cleave?
The proposed armor rules change limits player choice in their costume designs forcing us to wear items that do not fit the character to get an in game benefit that the player wants. As a suggestion don’t put location limitations on any material so players can costume as they like. Thank you.
So, with the addition of Maiden Circle Gold, a question came up regarding stacking uses of premonition with Seer. So which occurs? 1) The premonition stacks trigger separately, giving you 3 triggers per stack for 6 triggers total,
or
2) Do the to stacks trigger simultaneously, only giving 3 triggers total, rendering maiden circle gold useless in this case.
Under Animate Object for Mage, it says "This spell summons a Construct to fight for the character. Please see Summon Rules for Summoning Rules." However under the Summoning information, it says that Constructs are Alchemist only, and that Animated Weapons are what Mages (and Psions) can summon. Does the spell wording mean that Mages are supposed to be able summon Constructs as well?
Is it the intention of Archivist's Tome off Scholar to not include any sort of interaction with talents other than collecting dust as a glorified instruction manual instead of say, allowing crafting of any consumable talents copied into the book via similar process as creating a scroll? As written, the skill does not benefit the Scholar in any other way for choosing Talents over Spells, since it can only be one or the other per the wording.
EDIT FOR CLARITY: As the skill is written, it states "a tome of spells OR talents", implying the scholar must choose one. The above question was posed if this is true. If not, and the scholar can create multiple tomes, or one tome that has both, please consider verbiage adjustment to avoid confusion. Thanks!
For the skill spiritual strikes, does each auto hit need to be called individually?
Spirit of the Dragon 4 Build; Type: Augment The Dragoon is infused by the power of their ancestor, making them stronger and able to call upon perfect freedom of movement. The character gains +1 damage proficiency for 5 minutes and must use the damage type of their Dragoon Chroma for the duration. The character becomes IMMUNE versus IMPRISONED for 1 minute.
Positive Energy Concentration 4 Build; Type: Augment, Utility The Witch Hunter can channel positive energy through their body through concentrating. The character gains +1 damage proficiency for 5 minutes and must use positive damage for the duration. For the duration the character may utilize positive energy to cleanse or empower an area. The character’s first attack against a target deals +10 body damage.
When you use Positive Energy Concentration or Spirit of the Dragon, and then cast a damaging spell, does the spell do Posi damage or the Dragon Chroma damage respectively, or does it do the spell's base damage type as normal?
(Just realized my first question was asked earlier in the thread, edited away!) Additionally, is Augmented Ammunition actually a Consumable talent, or was that a typo and should be considered a Procedure?
Can any class take the Acolyte (e.g. cleric Acolyte) as the Paradigm using Prestige Points?
Dragon Breath states "This attack deals the damage type associated with the character’s chroma". If someone is under the effects of Power Infusion, meaning they must use magic damage for 5 minutes (or any similar skill that dictates mandatory use of a damage type for the duration), does Dragon Breath still do the chroma associated damage type, or does Power Infusion override that?
Trap kits can have up to 5 items in them. If you set of a Trap Kit Trap, how many defenses do you have to expend if all 5 slots are filled with attack consumables?
Nobody Left Behind states, "The character may carry a willing INCAPACITATED or CRITICAL target at any speed and pauses the target’s CRITICAL timer as long as they remain in contact with the target."
1. Does being able to carry the target at any speed mean that you can use movement skills and take them with you?
2. Can you carry a willing target while they are still alive? or does it only let you do so when they are incapacitated or critical? 3. The skill also has the channeled trait. Is just pausing the critical count channeled, or is it the entire effect?
Does the Prestige Point for Adaptability allow you to buy another purchase of a background skill you already have? For instance, as Therion I have Mana Infusion/Hand of Fate, can I get another use of either of those? Thanks!
The spell Sanctuary lasts until the caster moves, takes offensive action, or after 5 min. If casting on offensive spell, would the Sanctuary end at the moment of initiating the casting time for the spell or at the end of the 3 seconds?
Does the Psion paragon Seer apply to Premonitions cast upon other characters as a Latent defense?
On the smith list, for the talent Create Lock. It doesn't say what "tier" or "level" of locks they are able to make. What levels are they able to make? Related question, the skill specifies "Create a lock and up to 3 keys. This may be used to create a standalone padlock, or modify a chest or box to have a lock built on to it." Does this mean that a smith cant make locks for things like doors, books, etc. ie anything that you cant use a padlock on or thinks that arent boxes?
If you are hit with an attack and dropped to 0 body points and use Mana Siphon or Harvester with Drain Life or Malediction (with Dark Empowerment), and the spell hits on the target that dropped you, do you go to 31 body instead of 1 because those spells are 30 Drain Damage?
For Speak with Dead off priest, is there intended to be any sort of mitigating factor with the number of times it can be used on the same target in a certain time period? Otherwise, what is the point of applying Wisdom to it for bonus questions if it can just be reused over and over?
Regarding the interaction between intercept, and skills that can be used to defend others(intercede, quick reflexes, counterspell)
If person 1 attacks person 2, and person 3 intercepts the attack, can person 2 then use an intercede, quick reflexes, or counterspell to defend the attack?
Positive Energy Barrier and Dissipate both state that they only effect negative energy creatures. (posi barrier they can't pass through and dissipate can only target those creatures)
can these skills be used on creatures like dhampir and zakol? Also, if someone who is not a negative energy creature intercepts a Dissipate does it do anything?
Some of us were locked in when we swore our allegiances which conferred some bonuses. I as a champion of palenthorn are aligned light and at the time was able to use "Sacred" damage call type. Is this no longer the case in the new rules?
Primal Tapper lets a Ranger cast a spell they know as a trap. If they chose Nature's Wrath, which can only target blighted creatures, does a non-blight stepping on the trap not set it off? Or would they set the trap off and it simply have no effect on them?
For the priest spell Holy Armor, Nullify an attack that deals body damage. This ability can be granted to others as a Latent effect. Does it nullify the entire attack or just the body damage?
Two separate questions 1. On the Ranger version of Grasp with Roots it states "strike a target with a spell packet or weapon attack." On the Druid version of Grasp with Roots it states "strike a target with a spell packet." (same goes for Hurricane and Spore Cloud) Rules as written Druids are unable to weaponcast these spells, despite the one being different for Rangers. Is this how it is intended to be?
2. On spells where it states "strike a target with a spell packet or weapon attack..." can the weapon attack be ranged? ie, delivered with a throwing weapon, bow, or arquebus?
Physician question: Break Mind Control doesn't specify that it can be used as a Defense, but the text says "choose a target within 25 feet." Does that mean I can use it on myself if I have been Charmed, Enraged, or Feared?
Regarding skills that have the effect: "The character gains +1 damage proficiency for 5 minutes and must use [x damage type] for the duration". If you use multiple of those skills, what damage type should you be swinging? For example, Maria casts Power Infusion (magic damage) and then uses Spirit of the Dragon (divine damage). Which damage type is she allowed to use for those 5 minutes?
Question regarding the interaction of stealth/invisibility and reaction abilities, that are also attacks:
If person A were targeted by an attack(say for instance a detection ability in this case) by person B, could person A use a reaction attack(say fiendish whip, or a flare rune for example), and would that break stealth if they did?
If yes, could that person use stealthstrike to avoid breaking stealth?
Thrown weapon denotes Melee Prof However,
In this section it does not mention Thrown Weapon benefit from Melee Profs. Additionally can Thrown Weapon be used with Warrior Archtype skills. IE Aiki throws a cupcake or pumpkin pie (boffer safe throwing weapon) He calls viscious impale on the target for a 40dmg pin. Does this work? Alternatively, Aiki uses Javelins. Does he benefit from melee profs or the dmg for Javelins only boosted by piercing?
Didn't see this in the changelog. For clarification purposes.
Is this skill intended to not have +10 BODY damage added to a skill? Is this combinable with Dragon Breath? Also "Increase its damage instead of its normal effect". Does this mean that this will remove any status effects of the skill combined with? Example. Player uses Impale which is base 40dmg. Is this now: 50 Body 50 Damage 40 Body ( reading the last part may be perceived as a choose either)
On the Artisan list: -When altering a consumable with Experiment, does the imbued status effect inherit the duration of the original's, or its default value? -As written, Savant does not have any distance specification on the additional targets you can affect with a consumable.
Harvest your soul - "Strike a non-undead or non-construct target" does this mean that if you are playing a construct as a summon then the ability doesn't work on you? Follow up does this also mean that because "Construct" is now a playable race, if you are playing a PC construct does this ability also not work on you.
Another odd question regarding the interaction between dragon breath and roundhouse.
How many targets does that let you hit?
3(they don't stack)
5(they do stack, but only adds two to the original coupled tag)
Or 6(full stacking)
Not a clarification per say, but more a typo:
I assume this is supposed to say a maximum of 5 feet not a minimum
